I'm sure you'll be pleased with your Manurhin if you decide to purchase one. Walther began manufacturing again in 1952, when it licensed production of its PP/PPK series pistols to the French firm, Manfacture de Machines de Haut-Rhin, commonly known as Manurhin. The Manurhin PPK's are sought after by collectors since few seem to have been imported before the Gun Control Act of 1968 banned their further importation. I have owned a few of the French made Walthers and found them to be very nice. No German manufactured firearms were allowed to be used by police or military forces in Berlin so the French made PP's were issued instead of Walther made pistols. Models have been produced in Germany and (by Interarms) in the US. The TP was produced from 1961-1971 and the improved TPH has been produced continuously since 1968. I have only seen a handful of the early Thalson pistols.Īlthough Walther began manufacturing the PP series again in the late 1950's (I have a PP dated 1958) Manurhin continued production as well and also supplied the Berlin Police with pistols. Walther TPH View source The Walther TP and TPH handguns are extremely compact double-action lightweight semiautomatic pistols in. Starting in the late 1950's these were imported by Interarmco and then in 1984 under the Manurhin name itself. These pistols clearly said MADE IN FRANCE on the slides and were stamped MARK II. The Model 8 is a blowback pistol with a concealed hammer and has several design features that were innovative for Walther, including fewer parts and an easier disassembly. It was fed by an 8-round magazine and chambered in. The very first of these pistols imported into the United States were brought in by the old Thalson Import Company of San Francisco. The Walther Model 8 was a 6.35mm single-action pocket pistol manufactured by Carl Walther CmbH between 19. #Walther pp dates of manufacture licenseThe PP series of pistols were still very sought after and Manurhin was granted a license in the early 1950's to begin manufacturing Walther pistols. After the end of WWII the Walther Company, like all German firearms makers, was prohibited from producing small arms. You will find that the Manurhin PP pistols are of excellent quality.
